Mag Racing LLC’s G W’s Girl continued her affinity for the dirt, winning her second consecutive stakes at Oaklawn Park with a commanding victory in the $150,000 Dixie Belle against seven other 3-year-old fillies going six furlongs Monday. Trained by Greg Compton and ridden by Francisco Arrieta, G W’S Girl had taken the $150,000 Mockingbird at the Hot Springs, Ark., oval on Jan. 4 in her first start on the main track.

Sent postward as the heavy 1-5 favorite, G. W’s Girl and Arrieta changed tactics for the Dixie Belle, starting fastest of all from the outside post seven then going head and head to the outside of longshots Spankerboom and Wisconsin Girl through a  quarter-mile in :21.84 and around the far turn.

When they finished the half-mile in :45.31, G W’s Girl began quicken from her 3-wide position as Wisconsin Girl tried to keep up on the inside and Miss Martini moved into contention on the far outside. G W’s Girl began to assert herself in the stretch and was well clear passing the sixteenth pole. G W’s Girl crossed the finish two-and-three-quarter lengths in front Miss Martini in second in a final time of 1:10.12. You’ll Be Back was three-quarters of a length farther back in third followed by Whata Moon, Wisconsin Girl, Spankerboom and Innocence.

G W’s Girl paid $2.60 to win and improved her lifetime record to three wins in four starts with revenues of $195,975.

The chestnut daughter of Munnings began her career at Delaware Park in September with a length-and-a-half victory against special weight maiden fillies going five furlongs on the grass then shipped to Keeneland to close out her 2-year-old season against colts and geldings in the $238,000 Indian Summer on Oct. 6. Going five-and-a-half furlongs on the turf, she finished fifth, but just two lengths behind winner Governor Sam, who was third in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint (G1) won by Magnum Force at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club in his next start.

G W’s Girl is out of the winning Exchange Rate mare Essence of Audre, who has four winners from four starters plus an unnamed 2-year-old colt by Basin and a unnamed yearling colt by Mitole. G W’s Girl and the 2-year-old colt were bred in Florida by Larry Alan Wynn.

G W’s Girl did not meet her reserve at the 2023 Keeneland September Sale but sold to MAG Racing Stables for $130,000 at the 2024 Ocala Breeders’ Sales March Sale where she was consigned by Triple J Equine Sales.
