Florida-bred Master Queen on Also Eligible List

Party Mix, a winner of a maiden special weight on the Gulfstream Park turf at first asking, is set to make her second start on the unique grass course at Kentucky Downs Sunday in the $750,000 Untappable Stakes. An overflow field of 13 juvenile fillies, including fellow Florida-bred Master Queen on the also-eligible list, are scheduled to go six-and-a-half furlongs.

An out-of-state victory in a ungraded stakes by either Florida-bred would earn their respective breeders a $4,000 Export Incentive check paid by the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association.

Trained by Nolan Ramsey for Kenneth L. Ramsey, Party Mix used an inside trip to come from just off the pace and win by a half-length as the 7-5 favorite in a five-and-a-half-furlong maiden special weight for fillies in her debut at Gulfstream on August 15.

She has worked well in the morning since including a bullet three furlongs on the Gulfstream main track on August 8 in :35.18, the fastest of 37 moves at the distance that morning.

A daughter of Florida-bred Golden Pal, a two-time Breeders’ Cup winner sprinting on grass and currently North American’s leading first crop, Party Mix was a $50,000 purchase by Kenneth L. Ramsey at this year’s Ocala Breeders’ Sales Spring Sale where she was consigned by Jimbo and Torie Gladwell’s Top Line Sales. She also sold as a short yearling for $30,000 at last year’s OBS Winter Mixed and replicated that price eight months later at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale.

Party Mix is out of Expect an Entry, by Point of Entry and was bred in Florida by Helen and Joseph Barbazon of Morriston, Floridal

Party Mix will be ridden by Umberto Rispoli from post eight and is 6-1 on the morning line.

Master Queen is a homebred for trainer by Carlos Munoz and his CM Thoroughbreds and won her initial race, a five-furlong maiden special weight on a good track at Gulfstream on July 22, by nine-and-a-quarter lengths.

Master Queen is by Vekoma out of Mastering Bela, by Cairo.

She has Luis Fuenmayor named to ride.
