This story has been edited due to late developements concerning Hurricane Melton.

This year’s sale offers an outstanding roster of sires, headed by Gun Runner, Maxfield, Yaupon, Candy Ride (Arg), Liam’s Map, McKinzie, Vekoma, More Than Ready, Galilean, Girvin, Violence, Complexity and Florida-based Leinster, Win Win Win, Khozan and the late Uncle Chuck.

Journeyman Stud’s Khozan appears on his way to a record fifth consecutive year as the Sunshine State’s leading sire with progeny earnings of nearly $4.5 million. He also leads all stallions in North America standing outside Kentucky.

Ocala Stud’s Win Win Win has similar freshman credentials as Florida’s leading first crop sire and best among all first crop sires outside of Kentucky. Among his initial crop of runners is Nooni, winner of the Grade 3 Sorrento at Del Mar and second in Saturday’s Grade 1 Oak Leaf presented by Oak Tree at Santa Anita on Saturday; and stakes-winner Win N Your In.

Pleasant Acres Stallions’ Leinster has been popular with his first crop of yearlings having been represented by a $150,000 filly at the Fasig-Tipton New York-Bred Yearling Sale in August and a $75,000 filly at the Fasig-Tipton July Sale of Selected Yearlings.

Uncle Chuck’s yearlings have also proven popular this year with a $150,000 filly selling during the recent Keeneland September Yearling Sale. He also had a filly bring $95,000 at the Fasig-Tipton July Sale of Selected Yearlings.

A strong group of sires are represented in the supplemental catalog that are not included the main book: Justify, Nyquist, Essential Quality, Munnings, Practical Joke, Maclean’s Music, Authentic, Daredevil, Cross Traffic, and Honor A. P.

The October Yearling Sale has a strong group of recent graduates headed by Grade 1 Belmont Derby Invitational and Grade 2 Secretariat-winner Trikari, an earner of more than $1.2 million. Trikari sold for $27,500 to current owners Amerman Racing LLC out of the Ordonez Thoroughbreds consignment in 2022.

Several outstanding Florida-breds grace the back cover of this year’s catalog, including Michael Pegram, Karl Watson and Paul Weitman’s Speed Boat Beach. The multiple graded stakes winner bred by Richard Heysek’s Caperlane Farm sold for $12,000 to Rubin M. Sanchez out of the Stuart Morris consignment in 2021. Sanchez sold Speed Boat Beach for $200,000 during the 2022 OBS March Sale and he has since earned $498,000 on the track.

C2 Racing Stable LLC and Stefania Farms LLC’s Florida-bred Mystic Lake counts among her graded stakes victories the Grade 2 Charles Town Oaks and the Grade 3 Miss Preakness. An earner of $815,854 bred by Peggy Costanzo, Mystic Lake sold for $3,500 to Tom McCrocklin as an agent at the 2022 October Yearling Sale where she was consigned by Summerfield. McCrocklin successfully pinhooked the daughter of Mo Town, selling her for $130,000 at the OBS March Sale the following year.

Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint (G1)-bound Florida-bred Gabaldon has produced international success in his two starts this year for owner Soldi Stable LLC. After winning the $110,000 Royal Palm Juvenile at Gulfstream Park in June, the son of Gone Astray finished a solid second in the US$139,000 Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot in June. Soldi purchased Gabaldon for $9,000 out of the Getaway Farm consignment at the 2023 October Sale.
