The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. has announced the opening of an exhibit honoring Charlotte C. Weber, who has solely guided the famed Thoroughbred racing stable Live Oak Plantation, based in Ocala, Fla., since 1995. The exhibit will be on display in the McBean Gallery from June 4 to November 2, 2025.

Recently recognized by the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association as the leading owner of Florida-breds in 2024 for the seventh time (previously in 2011, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2020, and 2021), her Live Oak Stud has been selected the Florida Breeder of the Year in 2006, 2019, 2020 and 2021.

Racing in the distinctive black, white and red polka-dot silks that have become a nationally recognized symbol, her Florida homebreds have included 2017 Eclipse Award Champion Turf Male World Approval, a four-time Grade 1-winner of the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1) in 2017; and 2006 Eclipse Award Champion Turf Male Miesque’s Approval, a multiple graded stakes-winner of the Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1), both Florida-bred millionaires.

 

Other Florida-bred millionaires bred and raced in the Live Oak colors are Sultry Song, Revved Up, Solar Splendor, Awesome Slew, Brilliant Speed and March to the Arch.

 

World Approval, Miesque’s Approval, Revved Up and her Kentucky-bred millionaire Za Approval are out her homebred mare Win Approval, a three-time FTBOA Florida Broodmare of the Year and 2017 TOBA Broodmare of the Year. Win Approval is by her Canadian Horse of the Year and Champion 3-year-old With Approval. Sultry Song and Solar Splendor are out of her homebred mare Sultry Sun, a two-time FTBOA Florida Broodmare of the Year. 

Live Oak homebreds have been honored with 25 FTBOA Florida-bred championship awards including the FTBOA Horse of the Year three times: (Sultry Song, 1992), (Miesque Approval, 2006) and (World Approval, 2017).

Ocala Stud currently stands at stud Live Oak Stud Florida homebreds Win Win Win, Florida’s leading first crop and juvenile sire in 2024; and Awesome Slew.

Ms. Weber has served four terms on the FTBOA board of directors from 2003-2009 and 2010-2016.
