2006 – Live Oak Plantation homebred Miesque’s Approval won the Grade 1 NetJets Breeders’ Cup Mile by four lengths with jockey Eddie Castro at Churchill Downs.
Trained by Martin Wolfson, the 7-year-old was let go at odds of 24-1 after finishing fourth in the Grade 1 Shadwell Turf Mile won by Aussie Rules at Keeneland in his previous start. However, Miesque’s Approval had won four of five stakes before the Shadwell Turf Mile so the Breeders’ Cup victory sealed an Eclipse Award for the bay horse as champion turf male.
By Miesque’s Son out of Live Oak’s blue hen mare Win Approval, by With Approval, Miesque’s Approval retired with 12 wins, 10 seconds and five thirds and earnings of $2,648,879.
He was one of two champions and four graded-stakes winners out of Win Approval, who also produced 2017 champion grass horse and Breeders’ Cup Mile-winner World Approval.
