Florida-bred millionaire Revved Up passed away peacefully at Live Oak Plantation Saturday due to complications of old age as reported by the farm. He was 26.
Named the Florida-bred Champion Older Male in 2005 as a 7-year-old by the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owner’s Association, Revved Up raced until age 10, finishing his career with a two-length win in the 2008 Chris Thomas Turf Classic at Tampa Bay Downs, a race he also won in 2006.
Winning nearly half of his 43 lifetime starts (20) with nine seconds and a third, Revved Up retired with earnings of $1,548,653.
By Live Oak Plantation’s homebred millionaire, Sultry Song, Revved Up was the first foal out of the farm’s blue hen mare Win Approval, by With Approval, making him a half-brother to 2006 Eclipse Award Champion Grass Horse Miesque’s Approval, 2017 Champion Turf Male World Approval and multiple graded stakes-winner Za Approval.
Revved Up counted among his many graded stakes victories the Grade 2 Niagra Breeders’ Cup Handicap at Woodbine, the Grade 3 Sycamore Breeders’ Cup at Keeneland and the Grade 3 Stars and Stripes Breeders’ Cup Turf Handicap at Arlington International.
He won the Bonnie Heath Turf Cup Handicap at Calder Race Course in three consecutive years from 2005-‘07 and four other stakes during his distinguished career.
