After breaking her maiden by 12 lengths in her last race, Florida-bred Unfaithful Rose takes on five other 2-year-old fillies in the featured seventh race at Fair Grounds Thursday. Set for six furlongs, the $125,000 optional claiming is for non-winners of two races and has a purse of $55,000.
Trained by Ethan West for Thorough Crowd and Mr. CPA Racing, Unfaithful Rose exits a breakthrough performance against maiden special weight fillies going five-and-a-half furlongs at Mahoning Valley Race Course on Oct. 22. She pressed the pace for a quarter mile then drew off around the turn to cover the distance in 1:05.16 equating to a 75 Beyer Speed Figure, a career best among her rivals at Fair Grounds.
She has substantiated her potential in three solid morning works at Fair Grounds since, including a bullet four furlongs in :48 flat on Nov. 23, the fastest of 69 moves at the distance that morning.
Unfaithful Rose has earnings of $20,180, from three starts including two seconds in maiden special weight races for fillies at Belterra Park in August and September.
She was a $5,000 purchase by Philip Crone at the 2024 Keeneland September Yearling Sale where she was consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency.
The dark bay or brown filly is by Vino Ross out of the unraced Dialed In mare Starshipunfaithful, a half-sister to stakes winners Four Left Feet and Perfect Step. Bred in Florida by Monarch Farms, Starshipunfaithful has produced three other foals, including winner Chosen Factor, by The Factor; and an unnamed weanling filly by Maxfield.
C.J. McMahon will ride Unfaithful Rose from post four and they are 5-1 on the morning line.
Favored at 2-1 in the program is Paving, a two-and-a-half-length winner of a maiden special weight for fillies at Ellis Park on Aug. 23 in her only start.
Trained by Tom Amoss, the bay daughter of Gun Runner has earned $58,316 for Highlander Training Center.
Jose Ortiz has the mount on Paving and they will depart post two.
Brad Cox will saddle Collective Beauty, who returns to the dirt after her last two races on turf.
She was successful on debut at Horseshoe Indianapolis on Aug. 5, winning by nine-and-a-half lengths going five furlongs in an off-the-turf maiden special weight for fillies. She was then third twice, both going six-and-a-half furlongs on the grass at Kentucky Downs. She was two lengths behind the winner in a restricted allowance race on Aug. 28 and most recently four lengths back in a first condition, $100,000 optional claiming on Sept. 7.
Collective Beauty has earned $63,200 for owner Douglas Scharbauer, who bought her for $240,000 out of the 2024 Keeneland September Yearling Sale.
Collective Beauty is the 5-2 morning line second choice and will be ridden by Marcelino Pedroza Jr. from post six.
Also entered are Final Shipman with jockey Paco Lopez, Jareth Loveberry will guide Special Sauce and Luv Your Neighbor will have Axel Concepcion in the irons.
