Cash is King LLC and LC Racing LLC’s Global Steve puts his undefeated record on the line Saturday when the Florida-bred colt makes his 2025 debut at Aqueduct in the $250,000 Withers for seven 3-year-olds going a mile-and-an-eighth.
Global Steve broke his maiden by six-and-a-half lengths going seven furlongs against special weight maidens at Parx on Nov. 25 then promptly took on stakes company in the $75,000 Parx Future Stars Stakes in his most recent start on Dec. 30.
Last of seven early while going seven furlongs on a sloppy track in the Future Stars, Global Steve and jockey Mychel Sanchez used a ground-saving trip to take over at the top of the stretch and win by a length-and-a-half.
Trained by Robert Reid Jr., Global Steve has now earned $73,800 from two starts. He is by Bucchero out of A Rosefor Isabelle, by Hard Spun and was bred in Florida by Lance Colwell.
Sanchez gets the return mount on Global Steve and they will depart from post one.
Another strong contender is Captain Cook for trainer Richard Dutrow Jr. and owner St. Elias Stable.
A son of Practical Joke, Captain Cook recently won his second career start, defeating special weight maidens by nine-and-a-quarter lengths over a sloppy seven furlongs at Aqueduct on Dec. 28.
Out of Pow Wow Wow, by Indian Charlie, Captain Cook has earned $50,756 from two starts and will be ridden from post six by Manny Franco.
Rounding out the field are Surfside Moon with jockey Sahin Civaci, Corvus and rider Romero Maragh, Jose Lezcano will be in the saddle for Uncle Jim, Mo Quality has Kendrick Carmouche named to ride and Raul Mena takes the call on Omaha Omaha.
