Coming out of a sixth-place finish in the $250,000 Withers at Aqueduct on Feb. 1, Florida-bred Global Steve has been cross-entered by trainer Robert Reid Jr. in stakes for 3-year-olds at both Laurel Park and Turfway Park on Saturday.

Labeled at 10-1 on the morning line of both events, Global Steve has post four in the $100,000 Private Terms, set for a mile-and-sixteenth at Laurel; and post eight for the $250,000 Animal Kingdom, a six-furlong contest over Turfway’s synthetic main track.

Global Steve was undefeated in two starts last year starting with a six-and-a-half-length score in a seven-furlong maiden special weight at Parx Racing on Nov. 25. He then won the $75,000 Parx Future Stars by a length-and-a-half over a sloppy seven furlongs at Parx on Dec. 30.

In one start this year, Reid tried Global Steve on the road to the Triple Crown, sending him to New York for the mile-and-an-eighth Withers, a race with 42 Kentucky Derby qualifying points. He tracked frontrunner Mo Quality from three lengths back through the first half mile but drifted out in the stretch and dropped out of contention.

Saturday, we’ll learn if Reid wants to again try the son of Bucchero around two turns in the Private Terms or keep him against sprinters in the Animal Kingdom.

Global Steve is out of A Rosefor Isabelle, by Hard Spun and was bred in Florida by Lance Colwell. He is owned by Cash is King LLC and LC Racing LLC and has earned $77,550 in his three starts.

Mychel Sanchez will ride should he go in the Private Terms while John Velazquez has the mount in the Animal Kingdom.
