Arindel homebred Tank tries for his second added-money turf victory in three weeks when he lines up for the $100,000 Mr. Steele at Gulfstream Park Saturday. Tank and fellow Florida-bred Indecisiveness are among eight 3-year-olds who will go a mile-and-a-sixteenth on the grass in the Mr. Steele.
Tank has won three of nine starts on the Gulfstream green, all in stakes, including a length victory in the $100,000 FHBPA Turf going a mile-and-a-sixteenth on April 25. He also won the $75,000 Not Surprising at the same distance last June after taking the $75,000 English Channel at a mile on the turf two months earlier.
In addition to winning the FHBPA Turf, the 4-year-old colt trained by Carlos David has been stakes-placed twice, both times against Florida-breds, in three other starts this year. He was third in both the $75,000 Sunshine Classic Turf won by Neoequos at Gulfstream on January 17 and in the $100,000 AAA Feed & Tack Turf Classic taken by Uncle’s Gold at Tampa Bay Downs on March 29. His only finish out of the top three this year was a ninth in the Grade 2 Mac Diarmida at Gulfstream on February 28.
Tank has a career record of five wins, two seconds and four thirds from 18 starts with earnings of $388,270. He is by Ocala Stud’s Adios Charlie out of Vegas, by Brethren.
Sam Camacho will be aboard Tank, the 7-2 third choice on the morning line, and they have drawn post one.
Indecisiveness began the year with a runner-up finish behind Uncle’s Gold in a first level, $20,000 optional claiming on the Gulfstream synthetic on January 2 but has race exclusively on turf in four starts since, winning twice.
A homebred for trainer Ruben Sierra’s Just For Fun Stable, Indecisiveness won a first level, $20,000 optional claiming going seven-and-a-half furlongs on January 29 and a first level, $25,000 optional claiming at a mile on March 28. Last out, the 4-year-old son of Decisive Moment was fifth, beaten three-and-a-quarter lengths by winner Missed the Cut in an upper tier, $62,500 optional claiming on April 24.
Indecisiveness is out of Café de Nuit, by Hat Trick (Jpn) and sports a career record of three wins, three seconds and a third in 15 starts with earnings of $192,838.
Jose Rios will ride Indecisiveness from post four and they are 10-1 in the program.
Rounding out the field are Gran Oriente (Chi) and jockey Micah Husbands, Paris Surprise with Leonel Reyes in the irons, Missed the Cut will be ridden by Jose Morelos, Diego Herrera has the call on Discreet Dancer, War Bomber (Ire) will have Marcos Meneses up and Edwin Gonzalez will guide Horsepower.
