After making a splash at the 2023 Ocala Breeders’ Sales with an average of $91,667 for his 2-year-olds in training, Solera Farm’s stallion Rogueish began showing that he can get it done at the track as well. From 31 named foals of racing age, the stallion had 16 runners and 11 winners. They include Florida-bred Naughty Rascal, recent winner of the $92,500 Pasco at Tampa Bay Downs, a two-time stakes winner as a juvenile and one of two winners representing Rogueish in 2025 as of Jan. 16.
Rogueish offers a total package of pedigree, performance and conformation.
Sired by six-time champion sire Into Mischief, Rogueish is a full brother to Lucrezia, who won two stakes at Tampa Bay Downs and was second in the 2020 Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream Park Oaks (Grade 2). He is also a half-brother to Ghalia (by Medaglia d’Oro) winner of the 2017 Sunland Park Oaks and dam of 2024 stakes-winner Ghalia Princess (by American Pharoah).
Rogueish is out of 2008 Selene (G3)-winner Verdana Bold (by Rahy), whose half-sister Running Legacy (by Gun Runner) ran third in the 2022 Gulfstream Park Oaks. The sisters are out of unraced True Legacy (by A.P. Indy), a half-sister to Grade 3-placed multiple listed stakes-winner Holzmeister (by Woodman) and to Galleon of Gold (by Gone West), dam of 2009 Princess Rooney Handicap (G1)-winner Game Face (by Menifee). Produced from Grade 1-placed listed stakes-winner Harbour Club (by Danzig), True Legacy is also a half-sister to Bellini Sunrise (by Machiavellian), dam of 2021 Runhappy Barbara Fritchie (G3)-winner Hibiscus Punch (by Into Mischief).
Rogueish delivered on his pedigree in his only race over a sloppy six-furlong Fair Grounds maiden special weight in November of 2018. He coasted home by six-and-three-quarters lengths and posted an Equibase speed figure of 101—sky-high for a 2-year-old maiden winner.
Physically, Rogueish is a well-balanced individual who has the muscular, strong body typical of Into Mischief’s progeny. His hindquarters are particularly powerful with a good hip and his muscling extends nicely into his forearms and gaskins.
Rogueish is a rarity these days in that his pedigree is completely free of Mr. Prospector. As an outcross to this nearly ubiquitous line, he may particularly suit mares returning Forty Niner, Gone West and Fappiano, all Mr. Prospector sons whose distaff descendants have crossed well with Into Mischief. Naughty Rascal fits this pattern as his dam, the Smarty Jones mare Baby Doll, is from the Gone West branch of Mr. Prospector.
“Rogueish represents performance at an affordable price,” Solera Farm co-owner Dr. Krista Selzer said. “His percentage of winners from runners is impressive and he doesn’t need a particular type of mare to deliver. He’s passing on good size and a good hip and his runners are speedy and versatile. I think his best horses are yet to come.”
Rogueish is standing the 2025 season for $2,500 live foal.
