The catalog for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2024 October Yearling Sale is now available via the OBS website. The two-day sale is set for Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 8-9. Supplemental entries will be accepted until Sept. 21.

There are 535 horses cataloged in two Open sessions. The sale begins on Tuesday, Oct. 8 with Hips 1– 266 plus supplements offered for sale. Hips 301 – 569 plus supplements will be sold on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Both sessions will begin at 11:30 a.m. EDT.

Supplements will be sold at the conclusion each session cataloged in order of the starting letter of the dam’s name. Names beginning with Y through L will be added to the end of the first session; names beginning with M through X will be added to the conclusion of the second session.  

The sale will be streamed live via the OBS website.

OBS again offers Online Bidding during the October Sale. Buyers will be able to go to the OBS website and register to gain bidding approval, then access the OBS Bidding Screen with their credentials. For complete information on registration and online bidding please click here.

Amerman Racing LLC’s Trikari, by Oscar Performance out of Dynamic Holiday, by Harlan’s Holiday, is the cover boy, going over the $1 million mark in earnings with victories in the Grade 1 Belmont Derby Invitational Stakes, Grade 2 American Turf and Grade 2 Secretariat. The 3-year-old colt by Oscar Performance was consigned by Ordonez Thoroughbreds as agent to the 2022 October Sale and purchased by Amerman Racing for $27,500.

He’s trained by Graham Motion, has compiled an 8-5-1-1 record of five wins, a second and a third from eight starts to date and earned $1,303,530.

The catalog’s back cover is graced by Mike Pegram, Karl Watson and Paul Weitman’s Grade 1 Malibu-winning Florida-bred Speed Boat Beach, a son of Bayern out of the Pioneerof the Nile mare, Sophia Mia. The two-time graded stakes winner and 2023 FTBOA Horse of the Year is currently in training with Bob Baffert and returns with a four wins and a second in seven lifetime starts and $498,000 in earnings. The 4-year-old is a two-time OBS graduate. He was sold by Stuart Morris as agent, at the 2021 October Sale, then purchased for $200,000 out of the Really and Truly Thoroughbreds consignment at the 2022 March Sale. He was bred by Richard Heysek’s Caperlane Farm.

Resolute Racing’s Mensa, by Complexity out of Lady Halite, by Medaglia d’Oro earned a back cover slot with a runaway seven-and-a-quarter-length victory in the US$93,146 Victoria at Woodbine in July. Trained by Mark Casse, the 2-year-old Florida-bred scored in two of four trips to the post and has earned $104,207. Purchased for $135,000 from breeder Beth Bayer as agent at the 2023 October Sale, he’s currently training at Woodbine for his next engagement.

C2 Racing Stable LLC and Stefania Farms, LLC’s back cover girl Mystic Lake is a two-time OBS graduate and a two-time graded-stakes winner. The Florida-bred filly took the Grade 3 Miss Preakness in May then posted a nearly six-length score in the Grade 2 Charles Town Oaks on Aug. 23. A 3-year-old daughter of Mo Town out of Salty Soul, by Itsmyluckyday, she has won five of 11 races with three seconds and a third for trainer Saffie Joseph. Jr. At the 2022 October Sale, she was sold by Francis and Barbara Vanlangendonck’s Summerfield as agent, then purchased for $130,000 out of the Tom McCrocklin consignment at the 2023 March Sale. Bred in the Sunshine State by Peggy Costanzo, she has earned $758,554 thus far.

Soldi Stable LLC’s Gabaldon won the $110,000 Royal Palm Juvenile at Gulfstream Park in his debut and with it a trip to Royal Ascot. At Ascot, the 2-year-old Florida-bred son of Gone Astray out of Valuable Miss, by Value Plus gave a good account of himself in the Windsor Castle, finishing second by a length. He is trained by Jose D’Angelo and has earned $87,555 after his purchase by Soldi Stables LLC for $9,000 out of the Get Away Farm consignment at the 2023 October Sale. Gabaldon was bred in Florida by Carol Ann Reitman, Susan Gannon and Warren Miller.
