On Feb. 5, Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association’s Tammy A. Gantt and FTBOA intern Rebecca Ramirez hosted a Florida Huddle and Encounter tourism group to kick off a three-day area familiarization tour showcasing Horse Capital of the World®.
FTBOA’s Gantt explained why Ocala, Marion County is Horse Capital of the World®, discussed the impact of Thoroughbreds to the region, and the equine tourism opportunities available to travelers.
The goal of the FTBOA museum stop was to provide a snapshot of Marion County’s thriving horse industry of which Thoroughbreds make up half. She also mentioned how the area is a great place to visit to learn more about equine.
Gantt noted that the county contributes 22% to the GDP, and to one in five jobs. She shared that the FTBOA trademarked the Horse Capital of the World® and the importance the brand is to business, services, and tourism.
The FAM tour hosted by the Ocala/Marion County Visitor and Convention Bureau highlights Central Florida and the Florida Huddle & Encounter showcases the vast tourism offerings of the Sunshine State.
