The Florida Thoroughbred PAC will host the annual Florida Thoroughbred Golf tournament, sponsored by Florida Coast Equipment, on Friday, Oct. 3 at Stone Creek Golf Club in Ocala, Fla. with a silent auction kicking off online Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 5 p.m. EDT.
The auction moves to in-person on Fri., Oct. 3 and is open to the public to stop in and bid throughout the day. Members of the Thoroughbred industry, vendors, local businesses and the community attend annually.
The silent auction offers equine services, baskets of equine products, art, sports packages and autographed sports memorabilia. The autographed items include signed pieces from Hall of Fame jockeys including the late Ron Turcotte, Steve Cauthen, Jacinto Vasquez, among others. Buccaneer tickets are also available.
The shotgun scramble golf tournament begins at 12:30 p.m. with many all-day promotions throughout the course including Golf Galaxy’s free wedge stamping on the practice green before and after play, a tasting and a Roz cigar bar by Infinite Ale House and a Hole-in-Two contest in which teams can opt for a player to shoot a long drive for them. Teams that play hole-in-two are entered in a chance to win a round at Pebble Beach.
The day’s events also include a brunch with speaker Kathleen O’ Connell, book signings and an awards dinner sponsored by Florida Coast Equipment as title sponsor and EquiSmith as a golf sponsor. A mini trade show is part of the day and includes Florida Coast Equipment displaying Kubota equipment and Legacy Building Solutions. Stonehedge Farm South is a diamond sponsor.
Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association board member Beth Bayer joins as the new golf chair for 2025. Longtime co-chairs Debbie Green and Donna Delahunty and volunteers from Ocala Palms are back for their tenth year.
Golfers receive a golfer swag-bag valued at more than $100, including a cooler bag provided by Showcase Properties of Central Florida, premium golf balls courtesy of Randy Miles, a custom polo courtesy of Beth Bayer Consignments, and a golf towel courtesy of Peterson and Smith Equine Hospital and Complete Care. Box lunches are sponsored by Seminole Feed and Eddie Woods is sponsoring the cocktail hour. Air 22 and Beckie Cantrell are sponsoring roaming beer carts. Official team photos are being hosted by Beth Bayer. Ocala Equine Hospital is sponsoring swag bags which includes items from sponsors including $20 RaceWash coupons.
“We’ve worked hard to get one-of-a-kind items donated for the auction and to provide opportunities for donors to showcase their products and services. We are also making sure there are more fun hole promotions than ever before and bigger swag bags,” said volunteer golf co-chair Debbie Green.
“I was even escorted out of the track in Saratoga by security who saw me carrying around one of our limited-edition whiskey bottles that I was getting signed by Hall of Famers,” said Green.
