Florida horsemen will find good news in the first condition book of the Gulfstream Park 2024-25 Championship Meet as the Florida-Bred Incentive Fund (FBIF) purse incentives program continues through the duration of the Championship Meet.
The nearly $2 million annual program offers substantial purse incentives for Florida-bred horses, providing up to $5,000 in bonus money for win, place, or show finishes in many open overnight conditions. This structure significantly enhances earning opportunities for owners of Florida-bred horses competing at Gulfstream Park.
The FBIF is a collaboration of Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association, Gulfstream Park, and Florida Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association (FTHA). While the program has long supported the state’s racing industry, it has been substantially strengthened by the passage of Florida House Bill 7063, which injects $33.5 million annually into the state’s Thoroughbred industry.
FBIF combined with Florida Owner Awards (FOA) managed by Gulfstream Park and the FTHA combine for up to $12,000 added for Florida-bred win-place-show finishers across all open overnight categories. FTBOA additionally funds $5,000 Florida-bred win bonuses in open maiden special weight, allowance and handicap conditions plus $15,000 top-three bonuses in all Gulfstream Park open stakes.
Florida offers one of the nation’s most comprehensive breeding and racing incentive structures with combined breeder, stallion and open-race incentives outpacing all states outside of Kentucky. This positions Florida as a premier destination for Thoroughbred breeding and racing operations.
