Due to the impending hurricane Milton, Ocala Breeders’ Sales officials were forced to alter the schedule for the October Yearling Sale, moving 200 head from the first session originally scheduled for Tuesday to today. The remainder of the juveniles will be sold during a Tuesday session that will begin at 11:30 a.m.

A Florida-bred colt topped Monday action, selling as Hip 78 for $75,000 to Pick View LLC from consignment of Colin Brennan Bloodstock as agent. The colt is from the first crop by Yaupon out of Bride Street, by Street Cry (Ire). Bride Street is a half-sister to multiple Grade 3-winner Conveyance, stakes-placed Atlantic Bull and graded stakes-producer Cashing Tickets. The colt was bred in Florida by Leroy McClug.

Tom McCrocklin as agent put in a final bid of $72,000 for Hip 180, a Florida-bred filly by Vekoma out of Grin, by Flatter consigned by Lisa McGreevy’s Abbie Road Farm. Grin is a half-sister to graded stakes-producer Stay Awake and stakes-producer Pinch Me. The filly was bred in Florida by Four Horsemen’s Ranch and Bulldog Racing.

A Florida-bred filly by Ocala Stud’s Win Win Win, the current leader among freshman sires in Florida, went to Sallusto and Kimmel as agent for $70,000. Consigned as Hip 85 by Sue Vacek as agent, the dark bay or brown filly is out of Cash Reserve, by Distorted Humor and is a half-sister to stakes-placed runners Recking and Campy Cash. The filly was bred in Florida by John B. Penn.

Sea Warrior Stables LLC went to $60,000 to acquire Hip 44, a Florida-bred filly by Journeyman Stud stallion St Patrick’s Day out of Ballyhoo Moon, by Malibu Moon. The chestnut filly was consigned by Richard Kent’s Kaizen Sales as agent and is a half-sister to stakes-placed Loco Abarrio. The filly was bred in Florida by Rivermont Farm.

A Florida-bred colt by Ocala Stud’s Win Win Win, the current leader among freshman sires in Florida, sold to Glen Hill for $50,000. Consigned as Hip 11 by Camelot Acres Racing and Sales, Keep Praying is a bay colt out of the stakes-winning mare Additional Prayer, by Songandaprayer. Keep Praying is a half-brother to Grade 3-placed, stakes-winner Hear My Prayer and stakes-placed Hihellohowareyou. The colt was bred in Florida by Janet Irwin.

Monday selling saw 97 yearlings generate gross sales of $1,659,900 for an average of $17,112 and a median price of $10,000. That compares to the average price of $18,940 and a median of $12,000 during the first session of last year’s OBS October Yearling Sale.

Richard Kent’s Kaizen Sales led all consignors with $274,200 in sales from 14 head. Lisa McGreevy was the second leading consignor after marketing 11 juveniles for $239,700 in gross sales.

K.O.I.D. Co., Ltd. was the leading buyer, taking six yearlings for $124,000. West Coast Equine was second among buyers after signing for two head for a togal of $80,000.
