Bruno Schickedanz homebred So Delicious looks for an upset victory in the Grade 3 Jacques Cartier at Woodbine Saturday, a six-furlong test on synthetic for eight 4-year-olds and older with a purse of Can$100,000.

Schickedanz goes for his second consecutive victory in Jacques Cartier with a Florida-bred after winning last year with Old Chestnut.

So Delicious is also eligible for a $5,000 Export Incentive, paid to the breeder by the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association for the out-of-state victory at this level.

Trained by Deven Gittens, So Delicious has won one of four career starts, a length-and-three-quarters victory against $49,200 maiden optional claimers going five-and-a-half furlongs on Woodbine’s all-weather main track in his first career start in June of last year. The gelded son of Jagr has two seconds and a fourth in three starts since, all in non-winners of two, $50,000 optional claiming races at Woodbine. The two seconds have come at five-and-a-half furlongs on synthetic while he was fourth sprinting five furlongs on the turf in July.

Set at 20-1 on the morning line, the gelded son of the Eddington mare Yum Yum runs for the second time this year and first since April 19.

Dale Desruisseaux saddles 5-2 morning line favorite G T Five Hundred, winner of the $106,000 Thorncliffe going five-and-a-half furlongs on the all-weather course in his only career start at Woodbine on May 3.

The 6-year-old gelded son of Astern (Aus) has won four of his last five race including the $123,000 Forego going six-and-a-half furlongs over Turfway Park’s synthetic on February 13. He won a second condition, $40,000 optional claiming in December and a second level, $40,000 optional claiming on January 7, both going six-and-a-half furlongs on synthetic at Turfway.

Owned by Centennial Farms, G T Five Hundred has earned $561,556 from 10 wins, six seconds and six thirds in 41 starts.
