GAINESVILLE, FL—The UF Veterinary Hospital at World Equestrian Center will expand its small animal clinical services to include 24/7 emergency care, starting June 15.
Pet owners can conveniently access the hospital in Ocala at the WEC, located just off State Road 40. The hospital is adjacent to Barn W at the equestrian center.
As part of the transition, UF’s Pet Emergency Treatment Services’ standalone location at 3200 SW 27th Ave., will close, merging all UF small animal veterinary services in Ocala under one roof at the UF Veterinary Hospital at WEC, 1156 NW 81st Terrace Road.
“Uniting our small animal clinical services in one location is a transformative and meaningful opportunity to streamline our care model in Ocala and expand our premier services to meet the evolving needs of the local community,” Dean Dana Zimmel, D.V.M. said. “We have a beautiful, state-of-the-art facility at our Veterinary Hospital at WEC and are thrilled to increase access to small animal emergency care to 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”
UF PETS will close at 8 a.m. June 15 and small animal 24/7 emergency care will begin at WEC at 5 p.m. that day. Equine services at the hospital will not change.
The UF Veterinary Hospital at WEC, a 40,000-square-foot, first-of-its-kind facility, opened in May 2022 as part of an alliance designed to better serve WEC visitors and meet increased demand for veterinary services in the Ocala area.
