BY BROCK SHERIDAN
Jockey Miguel Vasquez and Florida-bred Full Disclosure made their intentions clear from the beginning with a quick start from post five then never relinquished the lead on their way to an upset victory at odds of 13-1 in the $70,000 Chasing Artie overnight handicap at Gulfstream Park Saturday. Assigned to carry 117 pounds while getting four pounds from highweighted Florida-bred Asher’s Edge, Full Disclosure was the best of seven 3-year-olds and older going five-and-a-half furlongs on the all-weather track.
Asher’s Edge and jockey Edwin Gonzalez pressed Full Disclosure through a :44.84 half mile but could not keep up in the stretch when Full Disclosure drew off to win by a length-and-a-half in 1:02.82. Florida-bred And Uwish, the 9-5 favorite, rallied to finish second with Asher’s Edge holding on for third.
Full Disclosure paid $28.60 to win.
Making his first start of the year and first for trainer Mohamed Jehaludi and owner Sherry Racing Inc., the 6-year-old Full Disclosure had not raced in 11 months since fourth in a $35,000 optional claiming starter allowance sprinting on the Gulfstream synthetic on Dec. 26. His last trip to the winner’s circle came after taking a $50,000 optional claiming starter allowance going five furlongs on the all-weather course at Gulfstream in January of 2024.
Stakes-place with a second in the 2023 Turf Dash at Tampa Bay Downs, Full Disclosure improved his career record to eight wins, five seconds and three thirds in 29 starts.
Full Disclosure is by Stonehedge Farm South stallion Cajun Breeze out of Theladysaidno, by Concerto and was bred in Florida by Shadybrook Farm Inc.
