Just two days after saddling Lennilu for a third-place finish in the Group 2 Queen Mary at Royal Ascot, trainer Patrick Biancone said he was pleased with the performance by the Florida-bred filly.
Showing no signs of jetlag Friday at Gulfstream Park, Biancone told the Gulfstream Park press office that he was proud of Lennilu’s performance. The 2-year-old daughter of Pleasant Acres Stallions’ leading freshman sire Leinster, who had debuted with a victory on dirt at Keeneland, was prominent throughout the five-furlong Queen Mary but was no match late for Coolmore’s dominant winner True Love (GB).
“We’re very happy. She came out of the race very good,” Biancone said while reporting Lennilu will return to the U.S. Tuesday. “She’ll get a little break and we’ll plan the second part of the year.”
Owned by Bushnell, Dunne, Harrington, Hoffman and Miley, Lennilu has now earned $103,289 in her three starts. She is out of Lulu’s Pom Pom, by Pomeroy and was bred in Florida by Helen and Joseph Barbazon.
Lennilu is a graduate of Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company have sold for $23,000 to Glencrest Farm at the 2024 October yearling sale where she was cosigned by Lisa McGreevy’s Abbie Road Farm.
