Wendell Yates, Troy Johnson and Maritza Weston’s Win N Your In returned to the winner’s circle following an impressive victory in the second race at Tampa Bay Downs Wednesday, an upper tier, $100,000 optional claiming for fillies and mares, 4-years-old and older. The $56,500 purse for the six-furlong contest included $23,000 for Florida-bred contenders, part of Tampa Bay Downs’ enhanced Florida-bred program.
A bit slow initially, Florida-bred Win N Your In and jockey Samy Camacho where fifth in the field of six, about two lengths behind front-running Florida-bred Immortallove in the first 100 yards. They edged closer just behind Immortallove and Summer’s Comin down the backstretch before advancing to challenge from the two path in the turn. Win N Your In turned for home on even terms with Immortallove then pulled away in the stretch to win by two-and-three-quarters lengths in 1:09.76 on the fast track. Summer’s Comin was second, another two-and-three-quarters lengths ahead of Factorbella in third. It’s Goodtobe Jose, Immortallove and Florida-bred Poiema finished in that order.
Trained by Carlos David, Win N Your In paid $5.40 to win.
It was the first win for Win N Your In since taking the $110,000 Stonehedge Farm South Sophomore Fillies on Florida Cup Day at Tampa Bay Downs on March 30. In eight starts last year, she was also third in the $75,000 Game Face won by Luvumorgan going six-and-a-half furlongs at Gulfstream Park on May 31. Just prior to Wednesday’s win, she was fourth, three-and-a-quarter lengths behind winning Florida-bred Ms. Bucchero in the six-furlong, $125,000 Sugar Swirl at Gulfstream on Dec. 20.
Win N Your In earned $36,200, increasing her career bankroll to $367,068 from five wins and four thirds in 15 starts.
She is by Ocala Stud stallion Win Win Win out of Hello Rosie, by Yes It’s True and was bred in Florida by Marion G. Montanari. Troy Johnson bought her for $12,000 out of the Summerfield consignment of Francis and Barbara Vanlangendonck at the 2023 Ocala Breeders’ Sales Winter Mixed Sale.
