After her Live Oak Stud was honored Thursday night by the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association as the Florida Breeder of the Year for the fifth time, FTBOA Hall of Fame member Charlotte Weber could take home another trophy Saturday if her Victory Achieved produces as expected in the $100,000 Laurel Dash at Laurel Park. A homebred for Weber’s Live Oak Plantation, Victory Achieved is the 5-2 morning line favorite among a dozen 3-year-olds and older, including two also eligibles, entered to a six furlongs on the turf.
An out-of-state triumph in a non-graded stakes would also garner Live Oak Stud as breeder a $4,000 Export Incentive paid by the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association.
In 12 career starts, Victory Achieved has nine on synthetic and three on turf including his last race when just a head short of winner My Boy Prince, finishing second in the $154,000 Van Clief Stakes going five-and-a-half furlongs on the Colonial Downs grass.
Two starts back, the 5-year-old gelded son of Street Sense (Ire) was an excused second in the $100,000 Karl Boyes going six furlongs on synthetic at Presque Isle Downs on July 3. He was forced seven-wide out of the turn by 6-5 favorite Horsepower and could not get to 34-1 upsetting Florida-bred Spirited Sol.
In one other race this year, Victory Achieved was a nice, three-quarters of a length-winner of an upper tier, $62,500 optional claiming sprinting five furlongs on the all-weather course at Gulfstream Park on May 30.
“At one time, we thought Victory Achieved really might be a top horse,” trainer Mark Casse said. “He’s had a few little things along the way, but he’s come back this year and run very consistently. He looks like he should be fairly tough and I think he’ll like that three-quarters on the turf.”
Victory Achieved has a career ledger of four wins, three seconds and a third while accumulating $217,841. He is out of the War Front mare Lady of Victory and has a second and a third in his three races on grass.
Sonny Leon rode Victory Achieved for the first time in the Van Clief and will hop aboard again Saturday. They will start from post nine.
Victory Achieved faces a familiar rival in 7-2 second choice Alogon, who was seventh, but less than two lengths behind, in the Van Clief.
Owned by the Estate of Charles T. Matses, Alogon is a multiple stakes winner who took the Grade 3 Belmont Turf Sprint by a neck in his final race of 2026 during the Belmont at Big A meeting in September.
A 7-year-old gelded son of California Chrome, Alogon won the Listed Turf Sprint Championship at Aqueduct and Listed Parx Dash at Parx Racing in 2024 and the $108,000 Wolf Hill at Monmouth Park in 2023.
The Edward Allard trainee has not been as sharp in two starts this year however, finishing four the the $100,000 Get Serious sprinting five furlongs on the turf at Monmouth Park on June 21.
Alogon is out of Scamper, by Scat Daddy had sports a lifetime revenues of $639,999 from seven wins, three seconds and six thirds in 26 races.
Alogon will start from post seven but has yet to have a jockey named at press time.
Rounding out the field are Bold Diversion with Jeiron Barbosa taking the riding assignment, Jaime Rodriguez will guide Witty, Senbei teams with jockey Samuel Marin, Had to Have Him will have Jevian Toledo in the irons, neither Alder nor Fierce and Strong have jockeys named, Creed’s Vision will have Mychel Sanchez as his pilot and Card Trick has no rider named. Jet Sweep Joe and Isivunguvungu (Saf) are on the also-eligible list.
