Florida-bred Pair Sell For $725,000 Each

Two millionaire colts, one by Not This Time and another by Flatter, created a buzz and led brisk action on Wednesday during the second day of the three-day Ocala Breeders’ Sales March Sale of Two Year Olds in Training that also saw increases in the average price relative to the corresponding second day of last year’s March Sale.
Gross sales for Wednesday were $25,488,000 from 144 sold for an average price of $177,000 and a median of $87,500. The average price Wednesday rose 9% when compared to the $162,309 average on the second day last year while the median was identical to the second day of the 2023 March auction.
Hip 533 was the day’s top-selling 2-year-old with a final bid $1,500,000 by Pro Racing Stable LLC as agent after working an eighth mile in :9.80 at the under tack show Friday. Consigned by Hartley / DeRenzo Thoroughbreds LLC as agent, the bay colt is by Not This Time out of Pammy Whammy, by War Front and is a half-brother to stakes-placed Pammy’s Ready. Pammy Whammy is a half-sister to stakes-placed Clearance Clarence.
Hip 494 was hammered down at $1,300,000 on a final bid by Marquee Bloodstock. The dark bay or brown colt consigned by Sequel Bloodstock as agent is by Flatter out of Napier, by Midnight Lute, a half-sister to Grade 1-winner Obligatory. The colt worked an eighth mile in :9.80 at the under tack show.
Hip 304 sold for $750,000 to Justin Casse as agent out of Ciaran Dunne’s Wavertree Stables Inc. as agent consignment. The chestnut filly is by Nyquist out of the Malibu Moon mare High Heeled Girl, a half-sister to Grade 3-winner Lady T N T, Group 3-winer Sweet Hope, stakes-placed Highgate Park, graded stakes-producer Well Heeled Lady and stakes-producers Moon River Gal and J T Safe At Home. The filly worked a :9.80 eighth mile at last Thursday’s under tack session.
Hip 529 also brought a bid of $750,000 when Joey Platts outlasted other potential buyers. Consigned by Hartley / De Renzo Thoroughbreds LLC as agent, the bay colt is from the first crop by Tiz the Law, winner of the Grade 1 Belmont, Grade 1 Runhappy Travers, Grade 1 Curlin Florida Derby and Grade 1 Champagne; out of the stakes-placed Our Majesty, by Majesticperfection, a half-sister to stakes-winners Overvalued and I Spy Wolfie and stakes-placed Our Majesty and Montana Banana. The colt worked an eighth mile in :9.60 at the breeze show.
A Florida-bred colt by Mitole out of Midnight Magic left the auction with $725,000 on the money board and Speedway Stables signed the ticket on Hip 445. Consigned by Eddie Woods as agent, the ridgling colt is a half-brother to Grade 3-winning Florida-bred Midnight Stroll and stakes-placed Florida-bred Atthecrossroads. The colt was bred by Carolin Von Rosenberg DVM and worked a furlong in :9.80.
Another Florida-bred sold for $725,000 as Spendthrift Farm LLC and Frank Fletcher Racing signed the ticket on Hip 526. The dark bay or brown colt is by Gunner Runner out of O’ Toole, by Distorted Humor and is a half-brother to multiple graded stakes-winner Sister Otoole, stakes-winner Lady O’Toole and graded stakes-producer Plenty O’Toole. Consigned by Niall Brennan Stables as agent, the colt bred by Gun Runner Syndicate, Helen Barbazon and Joseph Barbazon worked a :10 flat furlong at the breeze show.
Hips 539 went for $700,000 to Donato Lanni as agent for Zedan Racing out of the Pick View LLC as agent consignment.
The bay colt is by Justify out of the graded stakes-placed, stakes-winner Pauseforthecasue, by Giant’s Causeway, a half-sister to stakes-placed runners Aggelos the Great and Tossup. The colt worked a quarter mile in :20.40.
Eddie Woods led all consignors by marketing nine head for $3,155,000 while Ciaran Dunne’s Wavertree Stables Inc. sold seven juveniles for $2,765,000. Hartley / DeRenzo Thoroughbreds LLC sold two for $2,250,000.
Pro Racing Stable LLC as agent was the top buyer with their lone purchase for $1,500,000 and Marquee Bloodstock was the second-leading buyer at $1,300,000 for their only selection. Resolute Bloodstock bought two yearlings for $1,025,000.
