Gunnevera Colts Brings $170,000

A pair of Florida-bred colts each garnered final bids of $350,000 during the first day of the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training held Monday in Timonium, Md. The two-day auction continued Tuesday.
West Bloodstock as agent for Robert and Lawana Low purchased the first Florida-bred to hit the $350,000 hammer price out of the Hartley/de Renzo Thoroughbreds as agent consignment.
The bay colt is by first crop sire Authentic, winner of the 2020 Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve (Grade 1), Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic and that year’s Champion 3-Year-Old Colt and Horse of the Year. Selling as Hip 59, the colt is out of the Grade 1-winning mare Gomo, by Uncle Mo.. He was bred by Bridlewood Farm.
Hip 285 was the second Florida-bred to bring $350,000 when Flurry Racing Stables outlasted others to take the son of first crop sire Vekoma out of Ciaran Dunne’s Wavertree Stables, Inc. as agent consignment. Vekoma won the Grade 1 Runhappty Metropolitan Handicap, Grade 1 Runhappy Carter Handicap and Grade 2 Blue Grass during his career on the track.
The chestnut colt is out of unraced Florida-bred mare Scion Power, by Wildcat Heir, a full-sister to Grade 3-winner Derwin’s Star and was bred by Angela M. Ingenito.
A colt from the first crop by Pleasant Acres Stallions’ Gunnevera sold for $170,000 to Arthur Hoyeau as agent. Gunnevera was multiple graded stakes-winner of $5,561,800 on the track.
Selling as Hip 5, the Florida-bred colt was consigned by de Meric Sales as agent and is out of Emotional Roar, by Roar of the Tiger. Emotional Roar is a half-sister to Grade 3-winner Mayakovsky and graded stakes-producers Uniquely Appealing and Emotional Outburst. The colt is eligible for the $1.2 million FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes series to be run at Gulfstream Park later this year and was bred by Ivan Carrera.
Hip 187, a Florida-bred colt by Good Magic went to West Point Thoroughbreds, Lane’s End Bloodstock as agent for $130,000. He is out of the stakes-winning Florida-bred mare Money or Love, by J Be K, a half-sister to multiple Grade 1-winning Florida-bred World of Trouble and stakes-placed Alfie Solomons. The colt was bred by Good Magic Syndicate and Darsan Inc.
