2012 – Flat Out joined Skip Away as the only Florida-bred winners of the Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup in consecutive years after Skip Away won in 1996-‘97.

Flat Out was trained in the 2012 Jockey Club Gold Cup by William Mott and ridden by Jose Lezcano and it was the first victory for Flat Out since the 2011 Gold Cup when trained by Charles “Scooter” Dickey and ridden by Joel Rosario.

Owned by Art Preston’s Prestonwood Farm and bred in Florida by Nikolaus Bock, Flat Out would finish third in the 2013 Jockey Club Gold Cup won by Florida-bred Ron the Greek.

By Flatter out of Cresta Lil, by Cresta Rider, Flat Out retired with nine wins, five seconds and five thirds with earnings of $3,645,383 to rank seventh on the list of all-time leading Florida-bred money earners.

Skip Away tops the list of all-time leading Florida-bred money earners with $9,616,360.
