In Summation Wins the Grade 2 Palos Verdes Handicap at Santa Anita

2008 – Florida-bred In Summation won his second consecutive graded stakes when taking the Grade 2 Palos Verdes Handicap by a neck at Santa Anita. It was also the fifth win in his last six starts, all in stakes, going back to his victory in the $60,000 Sneakbox at Monmouth Park the previous June.
In Summation won the Palos Verdes as the 9-5 favorite with jockey Rafael Bejarano aboard after stalking frontrunner Barbecue Eddie throughout the six-furlong test over Santa Anita’s all-weather main track. In Summation ran down Barbecue Eddie in deep stretch to take the narrow win ahead of Barbecue Eddie in second with Surf Cat another three-and-three-quarters lengths back in third. In Summation won carrying the high weight of 122 pounds, giving away between two and nine pounds to his six rivals.
In Summation was trained by Christophe Clement for owner Waterford Stable and retired with earnings of $1,226,166 from 12 wins, six seconds and a third from 29 starts. He is by Put It Back out of Fiesta Baby, by Dayjur and was bred in Florida by Arthur I. Appleton.
