The Florida Horse Magazine article Legends of the Sport – Trainer, earned first place in the category of Association/Organization Publication Equine Media Personality Profile Single Article (print or online) at the American Horse Publications Equine Media Conference in Dallas Saturday.
Titled Legends of the Sport – Trainers the article as written by Gary West, Brock Sheridan editor, and published in the 2024 April/May issue of the The Florida Horse. It was the first installment in a three-part series by West chronicling women of great influence in the Florida Thoroughbred industry. The AHP judges noted: “It is easy to become a fan of horse racing, as it can be presented in a way that a viewer, or in this case reader, can root for the heroics and this article did just that. From the very first paragraph and opening scene, to the breakdown of each race that was noted, it was immensely intriguing.”
The cover of the same issue featuring a Remi Bellocq illustration of 2023 FTBOA Horse of the Year Speed Boat Beach, received third place in the category of Association/Organization Publication Cover. Design by FEC Senior Graphic Designer Nancy Moffatt.
