THA PRESS RELEASE (Edited)
The Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association today announced a strategic initiative to position the organization for the future of Thoroughbred racing.
Recognizing the rapidly evolving landscape of the sport, the THA’s board of directors has begun exploring a broader, more collaborative organizational model designed to better serve today’s horsemen and women while preparing the industry for tomorrow’s opportunities. The vision is to build upon the THA’s longstanding foundation by expanding its reach and creating an even stronger platform to address the challenges and opportunities shaping Thoroughbred racing.
As part of this initiative, the THA will explore opportunities to bring together breeder associations, racing offices, horsemen’s organizations and other like-minded industry stakeholders committed to innovation, regional cooperation and progressive leadership.
“The landscape of the Thoroughbred industry has transformed dramatically over the past decade and organizations like ours must evolve with it,” said THA President Tina Bond, who also serves as President of the New York Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association. “The THA has always been at its best when bringing creative leaders together to solve complex challenges, build consensus and develop meaningful solutions. That spirit of collaboration and problem-solving is every bit as important today as it has ever been.”
This renewed vision follows the retirement of THA’s longtime Chief Executive Officer and founder, Alan Foreman, whose leadership defined the organization for more than three decades. Under Foreman’s guidance, the THA became one of the Thoroughbred industry’s most respected collaborative organizations, providing horsemen throughout the Mid-Atlantic and beyond with a unified voice on issues involving racing integrity, medication reform, equine safety, legislation and public policy.
“Alan’s vision helped shape many of the reforms and initiatives that continue to influence Thoroughbred racing today,” THA Vice President David Richardson said. “He demonstrated what can be accomplished when organizations work together toward common goals. His commitment to collaboration and thoughtful leadership established a strong foundation for the THA, and we intend to build upon that legacy by strengthening partnerships, welcoming new voices to the table, and helping lead the industry through its next chapter.”
The THA’s founding member organizations extend their sincere gratitude to Foreman for his extraordinary service, visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to Thoroughbred racing.
Over the coming months, the THA will engage its member organizations and prospective industry partners in developing a strategic framework that preserves the organization’s collaborative legacy while expanding opportunities for innovation, partnership and industry leadership. As the sport continues to evolve, the THA is committed to ensuring it remains a strong, relevant, and forward-looking voice for the horsemen it represents.
