TAYLOR MADE STALLIONS PRESS RELEASE

Taylor Made Stallions today announced the launch of its new “State-Bred Initiative Program,” a unique opportunity created to support and incentivize regional breeders who participate in state-bred programs outside of Kentucky. The program allows breeders to breed approved mares to four stallions at a set stud fee, which will be waived as a complimentary no-guarantee once the resulting foal is reported as being born outside of Kentucky and supporting documentation for state-bred registration is submitted.

“Regional breeders and state programs are vital to the overall health of the Thoroughbred industry and we understand the importance of those breeders,” Taylor Made’s Travis White said. “With the foal population and the number of mares bred declining every year, we wanted to offer a unique opportunity to regional breeders in hopes of getting more foals on the ground and providing better access to what we believe are four high-quality stallions who are in various stages of their stallion careers. Hopefully, this initiative will bolster the future progress of regional programs, which will impact the industry as a whole.”

All mares submitted for seasons are subject to approval and must be designated as “State-Bred Initiative” mares at the time of submission. Once a live foal is produced and reported as being foaled outside of Kentucky, and supporting documentation for state-bred registration is provided, the stud fee will be waived. All seasons remain subject to the restrictions and conditions of a standard Live Foal Stand and Nurse season contract.

The four participating stallions include:

  • Angel of Empire — 2023 G1 Arkansas Derby winner, entering his second year at stud with first-crop foals arriving in 2026.
  • Dr. Schivel — G1-winning son of Violence at 2 and 3 who ran four 100+ Beyers in his career. He is represented by first-crop yearlings in 2026.
  • Idol — G1-winning son of Curlin and full brother to Champion Nest, represented by yearlings up to $175,000; first-crop 2YOs will run in 2026.
  • Tacitus — MGSW son of Tapit out of Champion Close Hatches and full brother to 2025 Breeders’ Cup Distaff winner Scylla; represented by his first 2YOs in 2025, including G3-placed Silent Tactic, runner-up in the G3 Grey S. at Woodbine in early November.

For more information on the Taylor Made’s “State-Bred Initiative Program,” or to submit a mare for consideration, breeders are encouraged to contact Brock Martin or Travis White at Taylor Made Stallions at (859) 885-3345. Space in the program is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis with approval.
