Talkin Tipsy looks to overcome her 30-1 odds on the morning line for Friday’s $150,000 Smart N Fancy at Saratoga as the Florida-bred filly also tries for her first stakes victory. In addition to the six fillies entered for the five-and-a-half-furlong sprint on the turf, Self Isolation and fellow Florida-bred Bluefield have entered under main track only conditions.

Trainer James Gulick owns Talkin Tipsy in partnership with Crown’s Way Racing LLC, Louis F. Stevens and Richard James Johnson and is hoping the 4-year-old daughter of Greenpointcruader repeats her two-length victory in the $60,000 Key Biscayne overnight handicap going five-and-a-half furlong on the synthetic course at Gulfstream Park on June 17.

In one start since, Talkin Tipsy was an unfortunate fourth behind Florida-bred winner Sassy Beast in the $150,000 Andy Guest at Colonial Downs on June 22. In that five-and-a-half-furlong sprint on the grass, in which Smart N Fancy rivals Can’t Buy Love and Train to Artemus were second and third respectively, jockey Antonio Gallardo was forced to steady Talkin Tipsy at the half-mile pole, costing her important momentum.

Talkin Tipsy is out of Tipsy Toes, by Got the Last Laugh and she was also bred by Gulick. She hopes to improve her record of four wins and three thirds in 15 starts with earnings of $170,550.

Luis Saez has accepted the mount on Talkin Tipsy and they have drawn the outside post six.

The heavy favorite at 1-2 in the program for the Smart N Fancy is the Christophe Clement-trained Roses for Debra, a winner of six of eight career starts and her last three.
