HITS Horse Shows is a proud partner
EDITED HITS PRESS RELEASE
Since 2012, Horse Shows in the Sun has partnered with the TAKE2 Second Career Thoroughbred Program for hunter and jumper shows. Take2 hunter classes are offered at all HITS venues, including Florida, Virginia, Illinois, New York, California, and Vermont. TAKE2 jumper shows are a consistent exhibitor favorite at HITS Ocala and HITS Culpeper. In 2024, TAKE2 jumper shows have been added to HITS Chicago, HITS Saugerties, and the HITS Vermont Summer Festival in Dorset.
TAKE2 Thoroughbred League members compete for $10,000 in year-end high-score awards and are eligible for the $20,000 TAKE2 hunter and jumper finals in September. The league is a member-based initiative founded by the TAKE2 program and requires an annual enrollment fee of $50. The deadline for enrollment is one week following the final day of the horse show where points were earned. Points cannot be earned until registration is complete with the league.
The program was launched in 2012 by the New York Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association, in partnership with the New York Thoroughbred Breeders Inc., to create second career opportunities for retired racehorses. TAKE2 sponsors $30,000 in awards and more than $100,000 in prize money in Thoroughbred hunter and jumper divisions nationwide. A 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, the program has expanded from eight shows in three states in its first year to more than 600 horse shows in 25 states in 2024. To date, more than 2,500 Thoroughbreds have participated in the TAKE2 Program. For more information, CLICK HERE.
