Florida-bred Earns $25,000 FSRI Bonus

Sum of Success, a 2-year-old son of Ocala Stud’s Win Win Win, was a dominant winner of his first out Monday at Gulfstream Park, taking a five-furlong maiden special weight for Florda-bred juveniles by seven-and-a-half lengths. In addition to earning $39,000 winner’s share of the $65,000 purse for owners Keith Johnston, Hopeless Stables and Art of the Claim, Sum of Success garnered a $25,000 Florida Sire Racing Incentive from the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association.

Capped at $1 million, the FSRI program pays $20,000 to owner and $5,000 to the breeder of each eligible 2-year-old Florida-sired, Florida-bred winner of a maiden special weight, allowance, allowance optional claiming or stake at Gulfstream Park and Tampa Bay Downs in 2026.

Sum of Success was a bit slow to get underway after a bumpercar start but jockey Jonathan Ocasio had little trouble after that, promptly putting him a length in front of Ez David in second with Strike third. Sum of Success separated further from his seven rivals with every stride thereafter, coming home easily in :58.13 on the fast track. Ez David was second, two-and-a-half lengths in front of Tommy’s Miracle in third. They were followed in order by Jet Fuel, Thanks Charlie, Hidden Danger, Mister Morgs and Strike. Ponche Jak was scratched.

Trained by Bobby Dibona, Sum of Success paid $4.80 as the 7-5 favorite.

 

A $165,000 selection by Dibona out of Ciaran Dunne’s Wavertree Stables consignment at this year’s Ocala Breeders’ Sales Spring Sale, Sum of Success is out of the winning Florida-bred mare All Summed Up, by In Summation and was bred in Florida by Oakleaf Farm. All Summed Up is a full sister to stakes-placed Summation Time and a half-sister to Grade 3-placed St. Joe and stakes-producer Sainted Dancer. All Summed Up, Summation Time, St. Joe and Sainted Dancer were all bred in Florida-bred Oakleaf.
