Live Oak Plantation homebred Souper Zonda left stakes company for the first time in five starts this year to win her third straight, taking a second level, $50,000 optional claiming on the Colonial Downs inner turf Sunday. Ridden for second time by Sony Leon, the Mark Casse-trained 4-year-old filly led from the break to take the winner’s share of the $75,100 purse as the 5-2 favorite against eight other fillies and mares.

With the out-of-state win at this level, she also earned a $3,000 Export Incentive for Charlotte Weber’s Live Oak Stud as breeder paid by the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association.

Souper Zonda led by a length-and-a-half ahead of Caviar Breakfast in second while covering the half mile in ::48.49 on the firm turf. Caviar Breakfast inched closer to Souper Zonda in the stretch but could not get by the chestnut daughter of Curlin, who won by a neck in 1:40.89. Evershed (Ire) also made a late run in the three path but three-quarters of a length farther back in third. Amie’s Smphony, Night of Rose (Brz), In This Moment, Diamond N Dress and No Alibi completed the order of finish. Juniper Juice and Souper Amusing were scratched.

Live Oak’s Souper Amusing is entered to run under similar conditions at five-and-a-half furlongs on the turf at Colonial Friday.

Souper Zonda paid $7.20 as the 5-2 favorite.

A three-time stakes winner versus Florida-bred fillies and mares this year, all at a mile on the grass, Souper Zonda won the $75,000 Sunshine Filly and Mare Turf on January 10 at Gulfstream, The $100,000 Pleasant Acres Distaff Turf at Tampa Bay Downs on March 29 and the $100,000 FHBPA Filly and Mare Turf back at Gulfstream last out on April 25. Her only loss in 2026 came when off the board after being repeatedly checked in the Grade 3 Honey Fox going a mile-and-a-sixteenth on the Gulfstream lawn three starts back on February 28.

Out of Zonda, by Scat Daddy, Souper Zonda earned $44,400 to increase her career revenues to $289,282 from six wins in 11 starts.
