With four of the seven entrants for Saturday’s $75,000 Sharp Susan at Gulfstream Park eligible for the rich Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association Florida Sire Stakes, it provides an advance look at some possible contenders for the $100,000 Desert Vixen on Sept. 7, the first leg of the filly division of the $1.2 million series.
The Sharp Susan, for 2-year-old fillies at six furlongs, also offers a $20,000 top 3 bonus for the seven registered Florida-breds entered. The bonus is presented by the FTBOA.
Florida-bred Win N Your In will likely be among the favorites for the Sharp Susan as the daughter of Ocala Stud’s popular first crop sire Win Win Win exits a seven-and-a-half-length victory against state-bred maiden special weight fillies on July 26. That was the second career start for the Carlos David trainee, who produced a notable 79 Beyer Speed Figure in the five-and-a-half-furlong contest at Gulfstream.
In her first career start on June 6, Win N Your In was third against Florida-bred maiden special weight fillies at Gulfstream.
Out of Hello Rosie, by Yes It’s True, Win N Your In is half-sister to multiple stakes-winning Florida-bred Miss Auramet. Win N Your In was consigned by Francis and Barbara Vanlangendonck’s Summerfield to the 2023 Ocala Breeders’ Sales Winter Mixed Sale where Troy Johnson purchased her for $12,000.
Win N Your In has since earned $33,400 in her two starts for Johnson and co-owner Maritza Weston. She was bred in Florida by Marion G. Montanari and is eligible for the Florida Sire Stakes.
Miguel Vasquez has been named to ride Win N Your In from post four.
Florida-bred Wiggle An’ Wine was an impressive in her only race, winning a maiden special weight for fillies by three-and-a-half-lengths on June 1.
Wiggle An’ Wine is trained by Jose Pinchin, who co-owns the daughter of Ocala Stud stallion Awesome Slew with Maingot Christian and she was bred in Florida by Pinchin’s wife, Tracy Pinchin. She is out of My Rolex, by Proud Accolade and her half-sister, Let Them Watch, won last year’s Sharp Susan. My Rolex also produced 2015 Florida Sire Stakes Desert Vixen-winner It’s High Time.
An earner of $45,000 in her lone start, Wiggle An’ Wine is eligible for the FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes.
She will be ridden by Emisael Jaramillo from post one.
Bee A Queen faces Win N Your In for the third time Saturday after finishing second last out and fourth in their debut. She is trained by Jena Antonucci for Mark Cherry, for whom she has earned $10,400 in her two starts.
Bee A Queen is by Journeyman Stud’s leading Florida sire Khozan out of Queen Brunette, by Uncle Mo and was bred in Florida by Tami Bobo. She is eligible for the Florida Sire Stakes and is a graduate of this year’s OBS March Sale where Cerasus Thoroughbreds paid $75,000 to acquire her out of the de Meric Sales consignment.
Jose E. Morelos, who has ridden Bee A Queen in her two previous starts, gets the return mount and they have post three.
Completing the field are Valiant Kiss with jockey Leonel Reyes, Thee New Beginning and rider Edwin Gonzalez, Brenna has Drayden Van Dyke named to ride and Jose Ferrer has the mount on Vuela Paloma.
