Texan Douglas Scharbauer, who purchased a Florida-bred Gun Runner filly for $500,000 Monday during the first session of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, went to $450,000 Thursday to acquire another Florida-bred filly, this one by Not This Time. Both fillies were bred by Bridlewood Farm.
Consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency as an agent for Bridlewood Farm and cataloged as Hip 879, the bay filly is out of Leslie’s Harmony, by Curlin and is a half-sister to stakes-winner Scotland Yard.
Leslie’s Harmony is a half-sister to leading sire Into Mischief and Beholder, the multiple Grade 1-winner and 2022 Hall of Fame inductee. Beholder was the 2012 champion 2-year-old filly, 2013 champion 3-year filly and champion older mare in 2015 and 2016. Leslie’s Harmony is also a half-sister to Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf-winner Mendelssohn, graded stakes-producer Daisy Mason and stakes-producers Judy B. and Victory Party.
Bridlewood purchased Leslie’s Harmony for $1.1 million at the 2014 Keeneland September Yearling Sale.
A Florida-bred filly by Liam’s Map was purchased for $350,000 by bloodstock agent Steven W. Young as agent Thursday. Selling as Hip 777, the filly was bred in Florida by Westbury Stables LLC and is half-sister to stakes-winner Lights on Broadway. Consigned by Four Star Sales as agent for Westbury Stables, the filly is out of the Florida-bred mare Drinks on Broadway, by Stay Thirsty. Drinks on Broadway is a half-sister to multiple graded stakes-winner Broadway’s Alibi, the dam of two-time champion sprinter and multiple Grade 1-winner Elite Power; multiple Grade 3-winner Golden Lad and Grade 1-placed, stakes-winner R Gypsy Gold.
Westbury purchased Drinks on Broadway for $150,000 at the 2020 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale where she was consigned by Upson Downs Farm.
Two more Florida-breds were scheduled to sell Thursday in Hip 1078, a filly by Justify; and Hip 1116, filly by Girvin; but had not passed through the ring at press time. Results will appear in Friday’s issue of Wire to Wire.
Thursday was the fourth of 12 sessions scheduled during the Keeneland September Yearling Sale that runs through Sept. 21. The sale will be conducted each day except Friday, Sept. 13.
