Live Oak Plantation homebred In Her Glory was engaged from the start and then outlasted several challengers in the stretch to win a $100,000 maiden special weight on the Mellon turf at Saratoga Saturday. Ridden to victory by Luis Saez and trained by Michael Trombetta, In Her Glory finished five-and-a-half furlongs in 1:03.56 on the firm turf.

In Her Glory started well from the outside post in field of nine 2-year-old fillies and allowed Saez to place just to the outside of Bibi Dahl, a $1.35 million Keeneland September purchase who was making her first start since an unplaced finish in the Group 3 Albany at Royal Ascot on June 20. Bibi Dahl clipped of a quarter-mile in:23.04 before In Her Glory edged closer around the turn to take a short lead at the top of the stretch as Bibi Dahl continued to fight on the inside. Sadie Earp ranged up on the outside to make it a three-horse fight to the finish but was unable to get past a determined In Her Glory, who had a head in front under the wire. Sadie Earp was second, a length faster than Bibi Dahl in third. Keto Drink, the 5-2 favorite, was fourth followed by Pisces Moon Santina, So It Begins and Bodacious Queen.

In Her Glory paid $17.20 to win as the third Florida-bred winner of a maiden special weight at Saratoga this year.

It was the second start for the daughter of Constitution, who was second Hark Theangelssing after a slow start in a five furlong maiden special weight on the inner turf at Colonial Downs on May 10.

In Her Glory is out of Zonda, by Scat Daddy and has now banked $69,000 in two starts.
