Nooni, the Florida-bred filly by Ocala Stud’s first crop sire Win Win Win who topped this year’s Ocala Breeders’ Sales March Sale with a $1.8 million price tag, makes her debut Thursday at Santa Anita in a $54,000 maiden special weight. She is the 3-5 favorite in the field of eight 2-year-old fillies set to go five furlongs.

Bloodstock agent Donato Lanni purchased the filly for Saudi Arabian businessman Amr Zedan’s Zedan Racing Stable out of the Ocala Stud consignment after her OBS record-tying under tack time of :20.20 for a quarter mile.

She has continued to exhibit that speed for trainer Bob Baffert in Southern California with several bullet works including a four-furlong clocking in :46.40 on May 27. Her last breeze was three furlongs in :37 flat on June 9, the 16th fastest of 39 that morning at Santa Anita.

Bred by Ocala Stud, Joseph M. O’Farrell III, David O’Farrell et.al., Nooni is out of the Florida-bred Union Rags mare Unanimity, a half-sister to Grade 3-placed Courtesan, stakes-winning stakes producer Chary and stakes-producers Lady Carlotta and The Shady Lady.

Nooni has drawn post five and Juan Hernandez has accepted the mount.

The 3-1 second choice is Lee’s Baby Girl for trainer Doug O’Neill.

Owned by The Del Mar Group, the daughter of Malibu Moon makes her second career start after finishing second to Running Rio going five furlongs on the grass against maiden special weight fillies on May 31. Lee’s Baby Girl produced the fastest work of 29 with her last breeze on June 9 while going three furlongs in :34.20.

Out of Rapid Racer, by Forest Wildcat, Lee’s Baby Girl will be ridden by Antonio Fresu from post eight.

Rounding out the field are Kitty Marren with jockey Jeremy Laprida, Mike Smith rides Lady of Light, Maclean’s Girl will have Edwin Maldonado aboard, Clapping Trees and rider Joe Talamo, She’s My Flame with Tiago Pereira aboard and Ricardo Gonzalez has the call on Pretty Cecy.
