OCALA, FL—The catalog for the 2024 OBS March Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training is now available via the OBS website.
A total of 849 juveniles, including 41 2-year-olds for the complete dispersal of the prominent breeding and racing Lothenbach Stables, Inc., have been cataloged for the three-day sale, set for Tuesday through Thursday, March 12-14 with all sessions beginning at 11:00 a.m. Hips 1 – 284 will sell on Tuesday, Hips 285 – 568 on Wednesday and Hips 569 – 853 on Thursday.
The Under Tack Show will span four days: Wednesday, March 6 through Saturday, March 9. Hips 1 – 213 will breeze Wednesday; Hips 214 – 426 will breeze Thursday; Hips 427 – 639 on Friday and Hips 640 – 853 will go Saturday. All four sessions will begin at 8:00 a.m.
The Under Tack Show and Sale will be streamed live via the OBS website.
Since the beginning of 2022, OBS March graduates have been on the board 363 times in black-type races, 118 of them graded stakes including 41 graded stakes wins.
The March Sale catalog’s front cover boy is C2 Racing Stable LLC and La Milagrosa Stable LLC’s multi-millionaire 5-year-old White Abarrio.
A 2023 Horse of the Year finalist, he’s a three-time, Grade 1 winner, taking the Curlin Florida Derby as a 3-year-old and the Whitney (G1) and Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) at age four. Trained by Rick Dutrow, he has compiled a 15-7-1-3 career record with $4,946,350 in earnings and is pointing toward the $20-million Saudi Cup on Feb. 24 at King Abdulaziz Racecourse in Riyadh.
The 5-year-old son of Race Day is a two-time OBS graduate, sold by Francis and Barbara Vanlangendonck’s Summerfield as agent at the 2020 Winter Mixed Sale and then purchased for $40,000 out of the Nice and Easy Thoroughbreds consignment at the 2021 March Sale after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :10.40.
The back cover features a trio of graded stakes winning OBS March graduates including Florida-bred Grade 1 Malibu-winner Speed Boat Beach, Grade 2 San Vicente-winner Muth and Kazuo Kato’s millionaire Jasper Krone.
OBS will again offer Online Bidding during the March Sale. Buyers may go to the OBS website and register to gain bidding approval, then access the OBS Bidding Screen with their credentials.
