John Michael Cummings, age 65, of Ocala, Fla., passed away on Jan. 6, 2024 at Ocala Regional Medical Center. He was born on Oct. 17, 1958, in Miami, Fla.
He moved to the Ocala area in 1970, later graduating from St. John Lutheran School. Johnny started working at local horse farms at age 15. He was a Farrier by trade for 40 years, specalizing with racehorses. He helped to build his own home and remodeled many others.
He was an avid fishman and boater. He would drag his boat everywhere. Johnny was passionate about his friends and black lab dogs. It was his life’s passion to help others, accepting every challenge. Johnny worked hard and played hard.
He was the son of Joseph Cummings Jr. and Patricia (Gravatt) Bartell. He was preceded in death by his brother Thomas “Tommy” Cummings. He leaves behind his father Joseph, step-mother Sandra, mother Pat, sisters Londa Palmer (Jody) and Marla Getford (April McDowell), step brother Donald Pelton III and Uncle Richard Cummings (Charlotte).
A Celebration of Life gathering will take place Friday, Jan 12, from 4-6 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home:
