Featured in the latest Career & Technical Education newsletter for Marion County Schools, the North Marion High School Equine program has partnered once again with industry partner Bobby Jones Equine.
The program assists students in learning about breeding, feeding, sales prepping, pedigrees, nicking and veterinary work in real-world settings.
In January at the Winter Mixed Sale, the program students sold a colt (Hip 244) by Ocala Stud stallion Awesome Slew out of Country Song, purchased by JDT Racing for $10,000. The proceeds go back into the Equine and Animal Science program at the high school.
Foaling season is underway for the students and the 2025 foal due this month, also out of Country Song, will continue the tradition of raising to sell at Ocala Breeders’ Sales.
