Joseph A. Schumer’s My Kid’s Said No burst from post three to put immediate daylight on her five rivals then left them far behind to win the CAN$50,250 Debutante for six 2-year-old fillies at Assiniboia Downs Tuesday night. It was the second win in three starts for the Florida-bred daughter of Omaha Beach, who with the out-of-state stakes victory earned a $4,000 Export Incentive for breeders Helen and Joseph Barbazon paid by the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association. 

My Kid’s Said No and jockey Shavon Townsend were four lengths in front after two furlongs in :23.58, 10 lengths clear with a :47.04 half mile then triumphed by 11 ¾ lengths, completing five furlongs in 1:00.36 on the fast track. Thick was second by a head in front of Cape Spear in third. Today’s Agenda, She’s a Maneater and Vision of Candy completed the order of finish.

Sent to the post as the 1-10 favorite, My Kid’s Said No paid $2.20.

 

Trained by Tena Birdwell, My Kid’s Said No won a five-furlong maiden special weight by 10 ¾ lengths at Gulfstream Park on May 15 then was third after setting the pace in Wild Vekoma’s $128,000 Prairie Gold Lassie at Prairie Meadows on July 10.

With the victory in the Debutante at Assiniboia, My Kid’s Said No increased her earnings to $70,784.

Schumer purchased My Kid’s Said No for $70,000 out of Sergio Centeno’s Blue River Bloodstock consignment at this year’s Ocala Breeders’ Sales March Sale of 2-year-olds in training.

She is the eleventh foal out of the multiple stakes-winning Hook and Ladder mare Under Serviced, who has produced six winners from nine starters including stakes-placed Florida-breds Lucky Mike, by Handsome Mike; and Kingpin, by Quality Road. 

In 2008, Under Serviced won the $107,300 Schenectady Handicap at Belmont Park and the Staten Island division of the New York Stallion Stakes at Aqueduct. Under Serviced is a half-sister to stakes-placed Don’t Mind Me and Fit Right In, dam of Grade 1 Ballerina and Grade 3 Bed o’ Roses Handicap-winner Rightly So.
