According to the Equine Disease Communication Center and the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service of the United States Department of Agriculture, several new cases of Contagious Equine Metris were confirmed in Orange County, Fla., on Aug. 29. An official quarantine has been issued.

Only the animals under quarantine have additional travel restrictions. The horse under quarantine is not allowed to leave the premises.

There were 39 confirmed cases and 58 horses were exposed. In our last published update on Aug. 20, there were 25 confirmed cases from the same number of exposed horses.
