Arindel’s Monster is the 3-1 second choice among seven 3-year-old turf sprinters entered at Churchill Downs Sunday in a $141,000 allowance race at five-and-a-half furlongs.

In addition to the purse money, Monster shoots for a $3,000 Export Incentive paid to breeders Dr. Ross Russel and Deeann Smith Cavanaugh of Citra by the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association for a victory in an out-of-state allowance.

The Florida-bred colt trained by Jose D’Angelo has two seconds and a third in six tries in stakes including in his last race on May 17 when a half-length off Unwritten Rule as the runner-up in the $83,000 Roar on the Gulfstream Park synthetic. He was also second to Bobrovsky in the $139,000 Skidmore going five-and-a-half furlongs on the Saratoga Race Course grass in his fourth career start in August.

Monster was fifth in two other starts this year, first on the Guflstream synthetic in the $100,000 Texas Glitter on March 21 and again in the $287,000 Palisades (Listed) over five-and-a-half furlongs on the Keeneland grass in on April 19.

Monster has won two with two seconds and a third in nine career starts with earnings of $160,951. He is by Leinster out of Dienda, by Kantharos.

Arindel purchased Monster at the 2024 Ocala Breeders’ Sales Winter Mixed Sale for $25,000 out of the Bobby Jones Equine consignment.

Tyler Gaffalione, who rode Monster in the Palisades, has the mount Sunday from post one.

Arbiter, who was seventh in the Texas Glitter after being checked at the start, comes into Sunday’s allowance off a six-length victory in the $130,000 Woodstock Stakes on the synthetic main track at Woodbine on April 26.

Trained by Wesley Ward for Resolution Road Stables, Arbiter won over the Churchill Downs grass in his first career start in November, taking a five-furlong maiden special weight by a length-and-a-half.

A $375,000 purchase by bloodstock agents Louis Dubois and Gary Young for Ward at the 2025 Ocala Breeders’ Sales Spring Sale where he was consigned by Britton Peak, Arbiter has earned $189,689 from three wins in four starts.

Arbiter is by Charlatan out of Bicolour, by Tiznow and will be guided by Irad Ortiz Jr. from post five. They are the 6-5 morning line favorites.

Rounding out the field are Gnome with Adam Beschizza riding, Hammond and jockey Rafael Bejarano, Trouble Calling with Luis Saez up, Jose Ortiz has the call on I C Light and Edgar Morales will take the reins on Ganaas.
