Florida-breds My Miss Mo and Majestic Lucia, first and fourth respectively in the Grade 2 George E. Mitchell Black Eyed Susan at Laurel Park in June, are set for a rematch Saturday in the $150,000 Monmouth Oaks (G3) for 3-year-old fillies racing a mile-and-a-sixteenth at Monmouth Park. My Miss Mo is the 3-1 morning line favorite in the field of 10 while Majestic Lucia is 15-1 in the program.
An out-of-state victory at this level by My Miss Mo or Majestic Lucia would earn their respective breeders a $5,000 Export Incentive paid the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association.
My Miss Mo runs for the first time since the Black Eyed Susan and this will be her fourth start in graded stakes company in as many races this year.
Trained by Saffie Joseph Jr. for Rich Averill’s Averill Racing of Bradenton, Florida, Billy and Terry Mathis and their Oklahoma City-based Mathis Racing and Tristan de Meric of Ocala, Florida; My Miss Mo started the year with two seconds at Gulfstream Park. She began the year in the one-mile Davona Dale presented by Inglis Digital USA (G2) on February 28, finishing six lengths off winner She Be Smooth; then was less than three lengths behind winner Prom Queen in the mile-and-one-sixteenth Gulfstream Park Oaks (G2) on March 28.
Her current owners took her for $320,000 out of the de Meric Sales consignment at last year’s Ocala Breeders’ Sales and she has since earned $328,030 from two wins and three seconds in six starts.
My Miss Mo is by Uncle Mo out of In a Dream and was bred in Florida by Valerie Mastromonaco, Tristan de Meric and the Uncle Mo Syndicate.

Majestic Lucia has one start since the Black Eyed Susan, a fourth in the mile-and-a-sixteenth Delaware Oaks (G3) won by Luv Your Neighbor at Delaware Park on June 13.

Trained by Victor Barboza Jr. for Mr. and Mrs. Jamie Perez of Aventura, Florida in the name of their Elena Racing Stable and Infinity Racing Stable, Majestic Lucia won her first two races of the year. She took a $50,000 maiden $50,000 optional claiming at Gulfstream on February 27 then a first condition, $75,000 optional claiming at Tampa Bay Downs on April 4 before going into the Black Eyed Susan.
Majestic Lucia is by McKinzie out of Starship Leia, by Lucky Pulpit and was bred in Florida by Laurence Leavy’s Monarch Farms based in Davie. Colin Brenan Bloodstock sold her for $85,000 to Majestic as agent at the 2024 Keeneland September Sale and Majestic pinhooked her through the 2025 OBS Spring Sale where she did not meet her reserve.
An earner of $104,390 from two wins and five starts, Majestic Lucia will be ridden from post six by Charlie Marquez.
Others set to line up for the Monmouth Oaks are Zany with no rider named at press time, Jumping the Gun with Julio Hernandez up, Jorge Vargas Jr. has the call on Pashmina, Laken will have Luis Rivera Jr. in the saddle, Point of Reference with jockey Jose Gomez, Bodacious Bay will be guided by Cristian Torres, Victor Carrasco will take the reins on Ivy Girl and no rider is yet named for Miss Fulton Gal.
