Multiple graded stakes winning trainer Eddie Plesa Jr has won 2,499 races. Plesa goes for 2,500 wins on March 20 at Gulfstream Park in race seven.

Plesa has amassed $63,655,626 in career earnings and won graded stakes over the course of five decades. In 1989, he won his first Grade 3, the Christmas Day Handicap with Florida-bred Vaguely Double. His runners have been on the national stage including Itsmyluckyday, second in the 2013 Preakness;  Florida-bred Gottcha Gold, second in the 2007 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile, and Florida-bred Three Ring, third in the 1998 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies. Itsmyluckyday won the Grade 1 Woodward and Three Ring won the Grade 1 Acorn, Grade 2 Bonnie Miss and Davona Dale.

Based in South Florida, Plesa Jr has had great success with Florida-breds including Philip Matthews & Karen Matthews’ Mr. Jordan, Bea Oxenberg ‘s homebred Best of the Rest, Bent Oak Farm’s B.B. Best, Trilogy Stables’ homebred Yesbyjimminy, Charlotte Weber’s Live Oak Stud’s Successful Song, and Padua Stables’ homebred Electrify, among others.

A leading trainer in the Florida Sire Stakes, he has won 12 times, had 12 seconds, and 11 thirds in the series. His winners include Adhrhythm (twice), B.B. Best (twice), Miami Slick, Miz United States, My Nichole, O’Rocky, Snow Lady, Speak Logistics, and Three Ring (twice). His first FSS win was in 1987 and his most recent was 2012.

He has also carded into race six on March 21 and race five on March 22.
