February 3, 1924 – October 19, 2025 

Martha Prater Foote Gordon, born on February 3, 1924, in Atlanta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025, in Fairburn, Georgia, at the age of 101.

Martha was a dedicated and hardworking individual who spent many years serving as a Secretary and retiring from the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association (now the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association). Her commitment to her work and her community was evident throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved first husband, Wayland Ivy Foote, Jr., second husband, Rev. Patrick Giffinand, and her third husband, Thomas Clifford Gordon, Sr. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mattie Prater; and her grandson, John O. Wallace, III.

Martha leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory. She is survived by her son, Wayland Foote, and his wife, Joan; her daughter, Donna Wallace, and her husband, John; and her sister, Joyce Hendrick. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Matthew G. Wallace, Sr. and his wife Amanda, Michael B. Wallace and his wife LeAnne, and Jason S. Foote and his wife Meagan. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Matthew G. Wallace, Jr. and his wife Brooke, Ashley Brown and her husband Ryan, Ariel Smith and her husband Michael, Brooke Combs and her husband Jarred, Heather Wallace and her fiancée Frank Coate, John T. Wallace, Justin Wallace, Cameron Foote, and Brandon Foote, along with ten great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service to honor Martha’s life was held on Sat., Oct. 25, 2025, in the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home, with Dr. Oscar Cope officiating. Interment was at Holly Hill Memorial Park. The family received friends prior to the service on Saturday at Parrott Funeral Home and Crematory.
