Author Lady Blue will be hosting a book signing on October 2 at the Legend Brunch and Fashion Show at The Club at Iron Lake in Ocala as part of Florida Thoroughbred PAC’s annual golf tournament day.
The book, Amazing Stormy, will be unveiled at the book signing beginning at 10 a.m. Blue will also be on hand after the brunch for guests. The book signing is open to ticketed guests for the day’s events. To purchase a brunch ticket in advance of the event, contact 352-629-2160. The speaker is former jockey and the first woman to win a pari-mutuel race in the U.S., Barbara Jo Rubin.
The book describes Stormy and Lady Blue’s first 22 months together as a strong-willed green mare and a career woman begin a new journey. The book walks readers through important first-time horse owner choices that will impact Stormy’s life forever from finding the best boarding environment to determining the roles of owner and facility trainer.
Stormy’s unique personality and breed traits emerge as Lady in Blue navigates Stormy’s interactions with her new experiences, environments, handlers, and trainers. Despite Lady in Blue’s best efforts, challenges occur to Stormy, which tests both horse and owner.
The $23.95 book will be discounted onsite to $20 and 20% of the proceeds will benefit Florida Thoroughbred Charities. Giclee 5 x 7 art prints matted to 8 x 10 ready for framing are $20 and a pair of notecards with writing paper are $5.
The day also includes the debut of the Ocala Art Group Fall art show, Reflections of Farm life in Marion County, Florida. The theme aligns with Marion County’s Farm City Week events recognizing agriculture contributions and land conservation/preservation.
