LEXINGTON, KY–Keeneland’s 83rd November Breeding Stock Sale will kick off Tuesday, November 3—three days after the track hosts the Breeders’ Cup World Championships for the fourth time—with 3,397 horses cataloged to nine sessions through Wednesday, November 11.

The catalog features accomplished broodmare prospects; proven mares in foal to leading stallions; and well-bred weanlings by prominent stallions and popular young sires and is available here. Horses in the catalog include the first mares in foal to Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve (Grade 1)-winner Mystik Dan as well as champions Citizen Bull, Fierceness, Sierra Leone and Straight No Chaser. The catalog also has the first weanlings by Preakness (G1)-winner Seize the Grey, Belmont (G1)-winner Dornoch and champion National Treasure.

In addition, the November Sale catalog has several dispersals, including the previously announced Complete Dispersal of Aaron and Marie Jones of nine horses: five broodmares in foal to Candy Ride (Arg), Goal Oriented, Into Mischief and Tapit and four weanlings by Into Mischief, Nyquist and Tapit. Taylor Made Sales Agency will handle the consignment.

“In late October and early November, the connection between racing and sales really comes to life here with the Keeneland Championship Sale at Historic Castleton, the Breeders’ Cup World Championships, the November Breeding Stock Sale and the Horses of Racing Age Sale,” Keeneland President and CEO Shannon Arvin said.

The November Breeding Stock Sale will open with a single-day Book 1 with a select group of 258 broodmares, broodmare prospects and weanlings in the catalog. The session begins at 1 p.m. ET. Keeneland will accept select supplements to Book 1 until the auction starts.

The catalog includes 40 in-foal broodmares, racing or broodmare prospects and weanlings in the Dispersal of Laurence Leavy’s Starship Stables. Consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, the group includes mares in foal to Arthur’s Ride, Cody’s Wish, Cogburn, Forte, Goal Oriented, Golden Pal, Mindframe, National Treasure, Not This Time, Omaha Beach, Sierra Leone, Vekoma and Yaupon.

For Starship, Book 1 has cataloged these horses:

Florida-bred Starship Bonita, an 11-year-old stakes-winning daughter of Gone Astray in foal to Not This Time. Out of the Honour and Glory mare Happy Honeymoon, she is a half-sister to stakes winner Surprise Wedding.
Weanling colt by Into Mischief out of Starship Bonita.
Starship Impulsive, a 4-year-old stakes winner by Improbable out of stakes winner K P Wildcat, by Include. She is offered as a racing or broodmare prospect.

Sale schedule

The catalog for the November Breeding Stock Sale includes 1,600 weanlings along with 1,797 broodmares and broodmare prospects; racing or broodmare prospects; and stallions and stallion prospects. The auction will present the following schedule:

Book 1 (Session 1) – Tuesday, November 3. Session will begin at 1 p.m. with 258 horses in the catalog.

Remaining sessions will start at 10 a.m.

Book 2 (Sessions 2-3) – Wednesday-Thursday, November 4-5. A total of 840 horses are cataloged over the two days.
Book 3 (Sessions 4-5) – Friday-Saturday, November 6-7. A total of 850 horses are cataloged over the two days.
Book 4 (Sessions 6-7) – Sunday-Monday, November 8-9. A total of 837 horses are cataloged over the two days.
Book 5 (Sessions 8-9) — Tuesday-Wednesday, November 10-11. A total of 612 horses are cataloged over the two days.

Print catalogs for the November Breeding Stock Sale are scheduled to arrive in the mail the week of October 12. They also will be available in Keeneland’s Information Center beginning the afternoon of October 12.

Keeneland’s Championship Sale at Historic Castleton is Wednesday, October 28. The event is invitation only.

The November Horses of Racing Age Sale will be held Thursday, November 12. The catalog is scheduled to be online Wednesday, October 14.

Keeneland will accept approved supplements for the November Horses of Racing Age auction until the sale day.
