Intricate, an Ocala Breeders’ Sales alumna who received her early training from Tristan and Valery de Meric of Ocala, Fla., picked up 10 points on the road to the 2024 Kentucky Oaks (Grade 1) with a convincing victory in the Grade 2 Golden Rod at Churchill Downs Saturday.

The 2-year-old daughter of Gun Runner tracked front-running West Sunset around the far turn under patient handling by jockey Tyler Gaffalione, a native of Davie, Fla., before shooting to the lead from between horses at the top of the stretch. Once clear, Intricate quickly left her rivals and continued to extend her lead until finishing five-and-a-quarter lengths in front of runnerup Thorpedo Anna with Central Avenue third.

Intricate completed the mile-and-a-sixteenth in 1:45.01 on the fast track.

Intricate paid $14.66 to win after being sent to the post at odds of 6-1.

Out of Complex Analysis, by Distorted Humor, Intricate races for the partnership of Bradley Thoroughbreds, Laura Leigh Stable, Scott Estes and Cambron Equine LLC.

She is trained by Brendan Walsh and won for the second time in three starts while increasing her career revenues to $302,180.

Intricate was consigned to the OBS April Sale last year by de Meric Sales where Bradley Thoroughbreds purchased her as an agent for $280,000.
