Ballybrit Stable’s homebred Golden Beach and Gerrards Cross, owned and bred by James Michael Chicklo both debut winners at Gulfstream Park, travel north to Monmouth Park for Sunday’s $100,000 Colleen Stakes for 2-year-old fillies going five furlongs on the grass. Trained by Mike Dini, Golden Beach is listed at 6-1 on the morning line while Gerrard’s Cross is 15-1 in the program for conditioner Kathleen O’Connell.

Golden Beach came from last of six to win a maiden special weight for fillies by a neck on July 11, covering five furlongs on a turf course listed good in :58.99. She is one of four fillies in the Colleen with a victory on grass with Clowning Around (6-1), Fire On the Wire (12-1) and Nacho Problem (15-1).

 

An earner of $25,800, Golden Beach is by Summer Front out of the Touch Gold mare Taty’s Gold. Dini has given the riding assignment to Eliseo Ruiz and they have post 10 in the field of 11.

Gerrards Cross dominated a maiden special weight for Florida-bred fillies on June 6, winning by six lengths after leading at every point of call and earning $25,800.

 

She is by Midshipman out of Spanish Concert, by Concerto and Sonny Leon will guide her from post five.

Rounding out the field are Spectacular Grey with Fernando Jara named to ride, Paco Lopez takes the call on Slick Merlin, no rider is yet named on Fire On the Wire, Chantal Sutherland will be aboard Thank You Amy, no rider has been named on Clowning Around, Victor Espinoza has the assignment on Santina, Samuel Marin will be in the saddle for Spinelli, Nacho Problem and jockey Samy Camacho, Pulstar has no rider named.
